Hp Color Laserjet Pro Mfp M479fdw Printer
WHY WE LIKE IT: The HP Color LaserJet Pro is an advanced, feature-rich color all-in-one laser printer designed for modern use. It has a fantastic color touchscreen with customizable shortcuts, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and much more.
- Color cartridges a bit pricey
This HP is a fantastic midrange laser printer that manages to include all the features you can ask for, making it our top choice as the best laser printer all-in-one unit. It gives users the flexibility to print, scan, copy, fax, and even email in color. The large 4.3 color touchscreen is a unique feature indicative of the printers modern design. You can customize the interfaces shortcuts to cater to your workflow. The printer also has fast, reliable dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as useful control and management options through the HP Smart App.
After sending a print job, youll have your first page out in a quick 9.3 seconds and produce at a respectable 28 ppm in both black and color. If youre looking to maximize speed and efficiency, youll love this HPs 50-sheet single-pass auto document feeder. This allows users to scan, copy, email, and fax two-sided documents with just one pass, which makes processing a high volume of sheets easy as can be. Compare that to the print, copy, scan, and fax functionality found on the best all-in-one printer.
Making Laser Output More Affordable
My two complaints about the Neverstop line in general so far is that the printers don’t support auto-duplex printing, which is a nuisance at best, and the print quality is not quite up to the level of HP’s LaserJet family of printers. This is not to say that print quality is poor it’s not, but I’ve seen HP do better. I suspect that taming the toner to behave well and sit for long periods in that internal reservoir without undue clumping probably required some reconstituting. Output is just fine for this machine’s placement in the marketplace.
The bottom line is, if you plan to print and copy hundreds of pages each month and require laser toner output, few printers on the market will serve you as inexpensively over the long run as the Neverstop 1001nw. That earns it our latest top pick among entry-level monochrome printers for home/small offices and workgroups.

What Are The Advantages Of Laser Printers
- Speed: Many laser printers can handle up to 100 pages per minute, whereas most inkjet printers have a much slower speed, averaging around 10-15 pages per minute. Be sure to factor in print speed when considering a laser printer purchase. Many will do duplexing . Automatic document feeders make short work of high capacity jobs.
- Low Cost: Although the initial price tag might be a bit higher in some cases, over the lifetime of the printer the laser printer is generally more economical. The toner cartridges can handle many more pages than do the inkjet cartridges, on average.
- Quiet: Laser printer technology is usually quieter than inkjet printers. In an environment where you want to minimize the noise decibel level, a laser printer is a better investment.
- High-Quality Text Printing: There’s no doubt that laser printers produce the best print quality of printed text. Crisp, clean, and vivid — if that’s important to you, choose a laser printer.

The Best Printer Deals This Week*
*Deals are selected by our partner, TechBargains
The two most common technologies, laser and inkjet, increasingly overlap in capabilities, but there are still differences. Most lasers and LED printers print higher-quality text than most inkjets, and almost any inkjet prints higher-quality photos than most lasersâbut both technologies have developed considerably in the past several years, and you may be surprised to learn which is best for your needs. See our in-depth discussion of the inkjet vs. laser question for more.
Beyond the questions of inner technology and output type, there are several more finely grained categories of printer.
Home printers are almost exclusively inkjets, and are built for low-volume printing. They tend to be slow, and have high ink costs. They print photos better than text and graphics. Nearly all are multifunction devices that are able to scan, copy, and often fax as well as print. If your budget is tight, this is where to start looking for an inexpensive printer.
Home-office printers are a subset of business printers , which range from compact, single-function models for low-volume use to humongous floor-standing units that can anchor a department. The majority of business printers are lasers, though inkjets are making inroads into the market, and most are multifunction devices. Many are monochrome and favor text and graphics printing over photos.
Pantum P2502 Wireless Printer
Best for AirPrint.
The Pantum P2502 Wireless Printer is one of the signature products from the manufacturer. The option of having a 700-page starter cartridge improves the performance while consuming low ink from the toner. It can support multiple media sizes, which can take very little time to set up as well. Coming to the printing speed, it takes 22ppm for A4 pages and 23 ppm for letter-sized pages.
|13.27 x 8.66 x 7.01 inches|
Verdict: The Pantum P2502 Wireless Printer looks extremely professional to use and to keep in your office. It comes with both iOS and Android compatibility, which can print from any mobile device. We tried this configuration from all devices available, and it worked amazingly. The High-speed USB 2.0 connectivity seems to work very well for the product.
Price: It is available for $95.89 on Amazon.

Flaws But Not Dealbreakers
Compared with the other laser printers we tested for this updateand most models weve tested over the past few yearsthe HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw had an unusually long first-print-out time. When printing via Wi-Fi, it took around 24 seconds from our pressing the print button to the first sheet coming out of the feeder. To put that in context, the Brother MFC-L2750DW spit out its first sheet in 12 seconds, the Canon Color ImageClass LBP622Cdw produced its first print in 11 seconds, and the ImageClass MF269dw was even faster at 7 seconds. We dont think 24 seconds will feel like too long for most people, but this model is still slower than the competition.
The M255dw comes with a skimpy set of starter toner cartridges good for 800 black-and-white and 700 color pages. High-capacity replacements are rated for 3,150 monochrome and 2,450 color pages, but a full set will cost you around $400, at least a hundred bucks more than the printer itself. This isnt a problem limited to the M255dwalmost all home laser printers come with corner-cutting starter cartridgesbut its annoying nonetheless. Most buyers should be prepared to shell out for replacement toner within the first year or so, but the replacement point could come a lot sooner for people using their printer in a home office. Third-party toner is available for around half the price of the genuine HP toner, but we cant guarantee itll work for you explore that option at your own risk.3
The Most Important Features To Consider

How To Choose A Laser Printer
When it comes to picking any type of printer the basics are the same. You are probably already aware that laser printing produces professional looking text documents at a lower cost per page than similar inkjet models. But there are other features to consider.
All in one functions like scanning and copying are included in all of the models on the above list, but one less common function is fax capability. If you work with medical or legal documents, faxing is indispensable, and you’ll need a printer that includes it.
Print speed refers to how quickly a printer will complete a page in a document. In our reviews we test this capability, measured in pages per minute. If you need to print frequently, or in high volumes, faster print speeds are worth paying for.
Print quality is another concern, though the majority of laser printers offer some of the best print quality you can get, with sharp and detailed letter forms that leave documents looking professional.
What you won’t get on most laser printers is color and photo printing capability. While there are color laser printers on the market, they do cost more. And among those, not every color printer is well-suited to printing photos, and those that do require special photo paper specifically for laser printers.

Laser printing has had a tough time of it in recent years. The pace of innovation with this older technology has slowed to a crawl. Plus, high-speed business inkjet printers with low costs per page, such as those in HP’s PageWide and Epson’s WorkForce lines, have been nibbling through laser printers’ lunchand are now eyeing their dinner. When you’re debating inkjet vs. laser, it’s even odds which one will come out on top.
Still, laser printers have remained relevant by focusing on their traditional strengths: fast print speeds and reasonable costs per page , as well as the extremely clean look of the finished product and the resistance to fading or smudging of toner. On the downside, lasers often have a significantly higher up-front cost, and they’re nowhere near as capable as inkjets at reproducing fine gradients in complex color output such as photos.
Recent innovations in laser printing include the refillable toner on the HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw.

Ricoh Sp C261dnw: Best For A Small Office
Ricohs colour printer comes with the essential features, such as Wi-Fi connectivity, duplex mode and secure printing built in. The Ricoh SP C261DNw may look a little dated with those wobbly plastic panels and its print speed is somewhat slow compared to other laser printers, but the print quality is particularly pleasing with both mono and colour pages and the price is competitive.
How Are You Going To Connect Your Printer
USB ports remain ubiquitous on printers. Most office printers, and an increasing number of home printers, include Ethernet ports and/or Wi-Fi, which allow you to share the printer with your home network. Printers that support Wi-Fi Direct can connect directly to most Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
A few printers can connect to and print from a mobile device via NFC , merely by tapping the phone or tablet to a particular spot on the printer, but the NFC fad seems to be fading. Most major printer companies now provide mobile apps so you can snap a photo with your phone and print it out directly, without needing to transfer it to a computer first. Small-format photo printers often support Bluetooth for connecting mobile devices and more.

Paper-tray capacities tend to scale up or down with the duty cycle of the printer . The key things to look for: adequate capacity, the ability to add an extra tray or trays , and a “bypass” slot for a limited amount of extra media . The output tray, meanwhile, should be large enough for the biggest document you’ll commonly print on the machine.
The Lexmark MC2535adwe can be expanded with additional paper trays.
“Duty cycle” is a specification issued by the printer maker that suggests the page-count limit you should heed on a given printer in a month to avoid overtaxing it. Duty cycle is often expressed as a “maximum duty cycle” and as a “recommended duty cycle.” This spec, compared across printers , gives you an idea of how the maker perceives the relative ruggedness of a given printer. It also ties in to how big the paper trays ought to be a 1,500-page monthly recommended duty cycle likely doesn’t merit paper trays that can hold 1,000 pages.
Best Laser Printers In 2022
The Lexmark MB3442adw offers everything you could possibly want from a mono laser printer, at a very reasonable price. That includes not just two-sided printing, but also copying, faxing and automatic two-sided scanning, via a very nice 7.2cm colour touchscreen.
It’s fastest on our list, too, offering print speeds of up to 40 pages per minute. You can print via Ethernet, USB 2.0 or Wi-Fi. Its paper capacity of 550 sheets should be enough for most needs, plus there’s the option to add an extra tray to bump that up to 900. And it’s relatively compact and lightweight, making it easy to move around your home office. For all these reasons, this is our pick as the best wireless printer overall.
Need to print in color? Then we recommend the Kyocera Ecosys P5026cdw. It does a great job of accurately printing your files, time after time, at a high resolution of 1,200dpi. It offers very respectable speeds of up to 26 pages per minute, and duplex printing comes as standard. You can print via Wi-Fi or by inserting a USB stick.
Note that this is a one-use printer: there’s no scanning, copying or faxing. And while there is a touchscreen display, it’s pretty small and basic. But that helps keeps the cost down, and so as long as none of these are deal-breakers, this is an excellent value buy.
