Make Three Copies Of Your Sketch Then Extrude Each Of The Three Different Templates And Add The Remaining Details
I created the sketch in a way that allows me to make the three different templates from the same basic sketch. So I used the “File > Save As” command to save a main, left and right template design, and then opened all of them from the data panel to finish each of the designs. After you do that, the process for each template is roughly the same. You use the Extrude tool to create the basic template shape by selecting the appropriate regions from your sketch and extruding to 1/2″ thick, alter the width of the pin template to reflect the difference between the router bit and the guide bushing, add 1/4″ radius filets to the inside corners ot your template, add a round recess on the top for your screw and slot to fit your t-track on the bottom, and finally add a .04″ filet to the edges of your template to make a nice print. Most 3D printing methods currently in use rely either on photo – or thermo -activated reactions to achieve precise manipulation of polymers. The development of a new platform technology called direct sound printing , which uses soundwaves to produce new objects, may offer a third option.
The process is described in a paper published in Nature Communications. It shows how focused ultrasound waves can be used to create sonochemical reactions in minuscule cavitation regions essentially tiny bubbles. Extremes of temperature and pressure lasting trillionths of a second can generate pre-designed complex geometries that cannot be made with existing techniques.
Ultrasonic frequencies are already being used in destructive procedures like laser ablation of tissues and tumours.
