The default setting in Windows is to show only the list of documents that are currently being printed and waiting to be printed in the Print Queue.

As each document is printed, it gets immediately removed from the list, resulting in a blank Print Queue, which does not provide any history of previously printed documents on your computer.

However, this can be easily fixed by going to Printer Settings and enabling Keep Printed Documents option for Printers linked to your computer.

    • First, press the Windows button and search for Printers & scanners. Once it shows up, launch this.
    • Now find the list of printing devices.
    • Then select the name of your printer. Click on it to open a menu just under it. Then choose Open queue.

How to Check Print History on Windows 10

If you have a printer connected to your Mac, you can see the print jobs you have currently in queue. And if you use a shared printer, this can be handy to confirm that youve sent your job to the printer and are still waiting your turn.

At the same time, you might want to see completed jobs. Again, with a shared printer you may find that items you thought you printed are nowhere to be found. You can check to see if your item did, in fact, print successfully. You can then hunt down the coworker or family member who accidentally grabbed your printed items.

How do i get into printer to see printing history?

Some of the above stuff is confusing. anyway, using a HP pooter, PavillionP6000 with windows 10, unk version. hard wired to a HP OfficeJet 4652 ,

The printer does not keep job history.

The best you could hope for is a cumulative history of the number of pages ever printed and various other technical information that has nothing to do with job history.

Note: All the following must be set up ahead of time.

Windows can be set to save print jobs in the queue – This works as long as no one clears the queue or reloads the printer software.

The Event Viewer can be set to log the print jobs.

The user can then open the Event Viewer and search for some of the details on the jobs.

The process is not automated unless you write a batch job to set the queue, enable logging, catch the job details, and format the results into a report.

If “stuff” is already confusing, the methods to set / log / track / report the jobs will likely make it worse…

I will certainly post the how-to if you are interested.
