The best way to do this is to enter the IP address of your copier into your browser. Its easiest to utilize the IP address because itll lead you straight to your computers copiers settings.

  • Launch Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY on your iOS device.

    You can check if your Mac can detect your Canon printer and scanner by going to Image Capture . Check if your printer is listed on the left panel under Devices and

    If your printer is listed under any of the two, your Mac can wirelessly detect your printer. Otherwise, download CanonIJ Scan Utility.

    • Go to the Canon support page of your country and on the top of the page, click Support > Software & Drivers.
    • On the search bar, type the model of your printer. Once it shows on the drop-down list, select it or press Return.
    • On the next page, under Drivers & Downloads, select your macOS version.
    • Depending on the model of your printer, you should select either a TWAIN driver or ICA driver for your printer, whichever one is available.
    • Select to save the download file on your Mac.
    • Once the download is complete, open the downloaded file and open the .pkg file to start the installation.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.
    • Once the installation is completed, Go to Apple Logo > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

    We may all live in a digital world but, even so, at some point youll receive physical pieces of paper and need to send them to someone electronically.

    Accomplishing this always seems to involve a small amount of irritation. For whatever reason those few extra steps tend to make the process seem daunting . Although it may not be as big of a deal as it feels, its still a bit of a time suck you have to scan the paper in order to save it to the designated spot on the server, then you have to go back to your desk, open your email, create a new email, search for the document, attach it, and THEN you can send the email. And, a lot of times once youve sent the email that file isnt needed again so it just sits on your server, forgotten, creating clutter and taking up space.

    If you only need to scan and email that document to one person , one time, you can save yourself a few steps by scanning to email directly from the copier.

    How scan to email works:

    Step 1: Select the “Scan and Send” icon on the display

    Scan to email may look like a quick and effective way to scan a document and send it online. And it is, just not for every document and recipient.

    One of the main disadvantages of using the scan to email feature is the risk that the document wont reach its recipient.

    When youre using the scan to email feature, its harder to check that the email address youre entering is correct because you may not receive an error message if you entered it incorrectly. You wont receive any warning if the intended recipient has changed their email address or if their inbox is full either.

    Recipients also cant reply to a message delivered from a printer as the return email address will show as a no-reply address. You can rarely customize your message, and you wont hear back from recipients if they try to contact you using the email address on the message.

    If you want to use the scan to email feature, you should only do it when you can personally confirm that the email reached its destination, and you should only use this function with documents that arent very important as they might not get through on the first try.

    Setting The Sender/receiver Name

    Setting names for a sender and receiver email is significant since it allows the system to save the emails under a common name.

    As a result, you wont have to key in the same email address every time you use it. All of the names and email addresses associated with them can be found in the address book.

    You can give the senders email a Unit Name in Common Settings. After that, you can go to your address book and create a recipient name. Simply enter your name and email address under Register New Destination

    This setup applies to all of the imageCLASS Canon printers. I havent tried other models, but Im sure the setup is fairly similar as long as you can get to the web interface.

    With that said, the first thing is to enable the web interface.

    To do so, you need to first setup the System Manager ID and PIN and make sure the printer has a static IP address.

    Please follow these instructions if you need to set up a Static IP on your printer.

    Once your email has been setup on these settings, you may test connection by pressing on Check SMTP Connection

    Change SMTP port

    We are almost done. The last step is to make sure the SMTP port is setup properly. As default it is setup with port 25. In my case, I have to set it up with 587.

    To do this, go to: Network Settings > Port Number Settings

    The most crucial step is to enable less secure apps in your Google account. You may want to register a new account rather than using your existing one for security reasons.

    • Go to and fill out the form.
    • Create an email account with a username and password that you remember.
    • Turn on apps that arent as secure.

    I am sure that people will run into this. On the canon image CLASS MF8300C also known as mf8380cdw, it took me some time to figure out how to get scan to email working. Summary is to change the SMTP port to 587 and use your smtp auth set to your Comcast login. The default port 25 won’t work and port 465 won’t work.
