  • How To Print Wirelessly From A Chromebook

We’ll start with steps on how to print wirelessly from a Chromebook as most modern printers have that function and, when it’s set up properly, Wi-Fi printing is more convenient than the USB route.

Printing wirelessly from a Chromebook is simple and doesn’t require any extra software. Below are the steps for printing from a Chromebook.

    • Connect your printer and Chromebook to the same wireless network. If your printer and laptop are on different Wi-Fi channel, they won’t be able to talk to each other. If you’re stumped on connecting to Wi-Fi, here is a useful guide.
    • Next, you’ll add your printer to your Chromebook. To do this, select the time in the bottom-right corner and click on the gear icon in the top-right of the pop-up box. At the bottom, select Advanced. Under “Print and Scan” select “Printers.” Under “Available printers to save,” select the model of the one you want to save. Once saved, it will appear at the top.
    • To print a page, document or image you’re viewing, press the “Ctrl+p” keys on your keyboard.
    • Select the down arrow next to “Destination.”
    • Select “See more…
    • Select your printer and choose “print.”
    • Note: If you’re having issues, make sure IPP is enabled on your printer. You can also manually add a printer if it doesn’t appear automatically. This can be done by going to Settings> Advanced> Under “Printing” select “Printers.” Once there, select “Add printer.” On this page, you will need to add the name, address , protocol and Queue .

    Printing From Your Chromebook

Now that you’ve connected your printer, either directly or over the network, how do you print? As with everything else on the Chromebook, it’s very simple.

To print a web page, just click on the three-dot menu and click Print from the drop-down menu. You can also use the Ctrl + P keyboard shortcut. In Google Docs, you can also print using the File > Print option. From there, you’ll be able to select your printer and its properties.

If that doesn’t work, make sure your printer is on and set up through the menu options for direct or network printing as mentioned earlier. Also, check if your printer is paper loaded, check the ink or toner levels, and add more if necessary.

Failing that, Chrome OS may simply be incompatible with your printer. While Chrome OS seems to have an extensive list of printer drivers, some will inevitably slip through the cracks, especially if you have an older model that your manufacturer may no longer support. If you’re in the market for a new printer, make sure it’s compatible with Chrome OS. Google maintains a directory of printer manufacturers that support Chromebooks.

Can You Write Code With A Chromebook

    Printers for Chromebook

While Chromebooks can run VS Code just fine, even on lower-powered versions like the one Im testing with, sometimes you need to use faster machines for your development, with more memory and/or a faster CPU. For example, maybe youre using an ARM-powered Chromebook but you need to run your code on a Intel/AMD chip.

The first new feature coming to the Chromebooks camera is the ability to scan documents. While this is quite straightforward and could be done earlier by just snapping a picture via the camera, you will now be able to optimize the scan via the in-built camera app to make the document look more legible. Users can capture a document and convert it into a scanned copy either in JPG or PDF format. This feature is available regardless of whether your Chromebook only has a front-facing camera or a rear-facing one.

To use this feature, open the camera app and select the new Scan mode. This will trigger a frame that will automatically envelop the edges of the document you want to scan. If the auto-detected edges look fine, you can save the document as it is or edit the edges to suit your preference. The Scan option also gets the ability to scan QR codes natively which can be selected by toggling the scan mode from Document to QR Code.

If the Add Printer option doesnt display your printer, youre going to have to add it manually.
