    Ink Getting On Your Skin

Ink can irritate your skin and make you unwell if you drink it. If an ink cartridge spills and comes into contact with your skin, use soap and water or rubbing alcohol to remove it.

If you spill ink in your eye, its best to rinse it immediately with cool water. Then, clean your eye with a saline solution.

How to Put Ink in a Printer

A brand new HP® OfficeJet® Pro 6978 printer includes set-up HP 902 cartridges, which come in four different colors: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The thing with setup HP cartridges is that it usually comes with less ink than a regular ink cartridge so you can expect to run out of ink fast. For this reason, if you think youll be printing a lot with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 from the get-go, its good to have a set of HP 902 ink cartridge replacements at the ready.

The nice thing about this printer is that you can replace each color as needed. If you are running low on black you can just replace the 902 black, if youre running low on magenta, you can just replace the 902 magenta. In this article, we will be replacing the magenta cartridge.

    Refill Your Printer Cartridge

Draw ink into the syringe slowly and inject it into the hole. That’s it!Some important tips:1. The needle size is very small. If you draw ink into the syringe too quickly, you can create air-gaps. Air gaps can block your ink cartridge. So make sure that there are no air bubbles, before you inject ink through the hole. 2. Refilling is a messy job. Make sure you have a piece of paper/waste cloth. The image has a clean background only to make it look good! 3. I was advised to fill the cartridge to near-capacity and not full. i.e., my cartridge’s capacity is 19ml. So I filled it to about 13ml. Probably this is to prevent leakage.4. Once, the cartridge is filled, it should be allowed to set for a few hours. This lets the ink to settle at the bottom of the sponge. The sponge is located inside the cartridge & cannot be seen. P.S. Sorry for the poor image quality in this instructable. I ruined it by putting the camera too close to the objects.Acknowledgement: I was “taught” to fill ink by my neighbor Sridhar. Thanks very much!

    Notes On Fine Cartridges

How to Put Ink in a Printer Properly and Safely

    Important

    • Do not touch the electrical contacts or print head nozzle on a FINE cartridge. The machine may not print properly if you touch them.

    • If you remove a FINE cartridge, replace it immediately.Do not leave the machine with the FINE cartridge removed.
    • Use a new FINE cartridge for replacement.Installing a used FINE cartridge may cause the nozzles to clog.

Furthermore, with such a FINE cartridge, the machine will not be able to inform you when to replace the FINE cartridge properly.

    • Once a FINE cartridge has been installed, do not remove it from the machine and leave it out in the open. This will cause the FINE cartridge to dry out, and the machine may not operate properly when it is reinstalled. To maintain optimal printing quality, use a FINE cartridge within six months of first use.

    Note

    • If a FINE cartridge runs out of ink, you can print with either color or black FINE cartridge, in whichever ink remains, only for a while. However the print quality may be reduced compared to when printing with both cartridges. We recommend to use a new FINE cartridge in order to obtain optimum qualities.

Even when printing with one ink only, print with leaving the empty FINE cartridge installed. If either of the color FINE cartridge or black FINE cartridge is not installed, an error occurs and the machine cannot print.
