In this guide, we will be reviewing the installation steps using the HP ENVY 6055 printer, but the steps are similar if you own any of the other compatible printers we listed at the beginning of the article.

Take the new cartridge out of the box and remove the plastic wrap. Then grab a trash can for the next step, as some ink may escape from the cartridge during this step.

Pull off the orange tape on the side of the cartridge and throw it away. This exposes the vent hole on the side of the cartridge so it can function properly in your printer.

While you are preparing the cartridge, try to avoid touching the gold contact points. If fingerprint oil or residue gets on these contacts you may get a faulty reading in your printer. You can clean the contact points with a lint-free cloth.

Open up the top cover and wait for the cartridges to center, then lift up on the latch that is cradling the cartridge and gently pull out the cartridge to remove it from the printer.

Then, slide the new cartridge into that empty slot and pull the latch back over the cartridge so it is secure.

Close up the top cover and wait a few moments for the printer to initialize. Now you can start printing!

How To Reset An Hp Printer After Ink Refill

Refilling HP cartridges is an inevitable chore if you own one of their printers. While some cartridges will work without problems after using a refill kit, some models require a hard reset. This is because the printer may not detect the newly filled cartridge. Sometimes you may even encounter a third-party cartridge detected error message even though the refilled cartridge is a genuine HP product. This can be pretty frustrating.

Whenever this happens, resetting your printer should be first on the list of your troubleshooting options. And the good thing about it is that it can also work if youve replaced HP cartridges with some other compatible option from another vendor.

You can reset your HP printer in two ways. Lets see how each method works.

These errors may appear due to a communication breakdown between the printer and the chip on the cartridge. Still, there is a simple fix.

If you get such an HP printer cartridge problem, first, reset the printer to recover from any errors or failures. Then, with the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power source and wait 60 seconds. As your printer had some rest, reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and the device. Finally, turn on the printer to complete the reset.

If it didnt help, remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge 2-3 times until it firmly seats in the slot. Then turn off the printer and remove all cartridges. Take a lint-free cloth and dump it in distilled water. Gently wipe the contacts on the cartridge and carriage to remove any dirt or residue. Wait 10 minutes for the contacts to dry, and then replace the cartridge and make sure it clicks securely into the designated slot. Turn on the printer and keep on working.
