How to add a network printer using Windows 7

You can install a network printer directly into Windows.

Before installing a network printer in Windows, make sure that:

  • Your Mac can access the Internet.
  • Windows is configured to work in either the or Bridged networking mode and can access the Internet too.
  • The user account in Windows has permission to access the network printer.
  • You know the printer IP address.

After that, you can log in to Windows and install a network printer.

In Windows

Before adding a network printer in Windows, download and install an appropriate printer driver. For detailed information on installing the printer driver, refer to the printer manufacturer documentation.

To add a network printer in Windows 7 or Windows Vista:

  • Open the Windows Start menu and select Control Panel.
  • In the Control Panel window, select Hardware and Sound and click Add a printer in the Devices and Printers section . The Add Printer wizard opens.
  • In the first window, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
  • In the next window, click The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  • In the Find a printer by name or TCP/IP address window, select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and click Next.
  • In the Type a printer hostname or IP address window, do the following:
  • Select TCP/IP Device from the Device type menu.
  • Specify the printer IP address in the Hostname or IP address field.
  • Clear the Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use option if it is selected.
  • When ready, click Next.
  • In Linux

    With Windows Xp 2000 Or Windows Nt 40

    When the printer server’s OS is Windows XP, 2000, or Windows NT 4.0, follow these steps to set the printer server.

    Note:
    You must access Windows XP, 2000, or Windows NT 4.0 as the Administrators of the local machine.
    For a Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0 printer server, click Start, point to Settings, and click Printers.For a Windows XP Professional printer server, click Start, and click Printers and Faxes. For Windows XP Home Edition printer server, click Start, click Control panel, then click Printers and Faxes.
    Right-click your printer icon, and click Sharing in the menu that appears.

    For Windows XP, if the following menu appears, click either Network Setup Wizard or If you understand the securityrisks but want to share printers without running the wizard,In either case, follow the on-screen instructions.

    For a Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0 printer server, select or , then type the name in the Share name box and click OK.

    For a Windows XP printer server, select , then type the name in the Share name box and click OK.

    Note:
    Do not use spaces or hyphens for the share name, or an error may occur.

    Getting started: Necessary software

    Before the printer is able to communicate over the network, you will need to install the necessary software to control the printer and configure it for network use. You can download this software from the support website or install it from the supplied driver CD.

    If you already have this software installed on your computer, move to “Configuring a wired network printer”. Verify that the software is installed and then connect your Epson product to a network access point via an Ethernet cable.

  • Click Start> Control Panel> Devices and Printers.

  • Right-click on your printer model, go to Properties or Printer Properties then left-click on the Ports tab.
  • Click on Add port, a list of available port types will be shown, select EpsonNet Print Port and click New port.
  • Your printer is shown on the next screen, select your model and click Next.
  • Select the type of IP address your product is assigned with in the below screen then click Finish.

    4 Ways to Install a Network Printer
    • If you are installing a local printer, connect the printer to your PC via USB or WiFi. Otherwise, for network or shared printers, proceed to the next step.
    • Type control panel in the search box and click Control Panel.
    • On Control Panel, if View by is NOT set to Category, click the drop-down and select Category.
    • Then, on the Hardware and Sound category, click View devices and printers.

    This describes how to install the PCL, or RPCS printer driver when using the printer as a Windows network printer.

    To use the print server, install the printer driver by selecting “Network printer server”, and then select the Windows 2000/XP/Vista, or Windows Server 2003/2003 R2/2008 shared printer.

    • You can install the printer driver from the CD-ROM provided with this printer or download it from the supplier’s Web site.

    • If your operating system is Windows XP Pro x64, Windows Vista x64, or Windows Server 2003/2003 R2/2008 x64, you must download the printer driver from the manufacturer’s Web site. Select this printer and the operating system you are using, and then download it.

    How To Add A Printer On Windows 10 From Windows Settings

    • If you are installing a local printer, connect the printer to your PC via USB or WiFi. Otherwise, for network or shared printers, proceed to the next step.
    • Right-click the Windows 10 Start menu and click Settings.
    • Then, on Windows Settings, click Devices.
    • On the left pane of the Devices settings screen, click Printers & scanners.

  • Open System Preferences
  • Within System Preferences, select Printers & Scanners.
