Connect A Printer To Windows 10

Different printers have their own set-up processes for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Consult your owner’s manual to see how to get started.

Tip: You might need to update to the latest version of Windows 10 to make sure you have up-to-date driver support.

Wi-Fi printers

Windows 10 should easily find any printer connected to the same local network via Wi-Fi.

Go to the Start menu and click Settings, Devices, then Printers & scanners. Select Add a printer or scanner and wait for your printer to appear in the list, then select it and hit Add device.

If Windows doesn’t find your printer, select The printer that I want isn’t listed and follow the instructions.

Another solution could be to plug the printer into your laptop or desktop with a USB cable. This can force the computer to recognise the printer and install the drivers. After it’s done, unplug the printer from USB and see if your computer continues to detect it.

If Windows doesn’t already have them, the printer drivers should download and install. If not, you can get them from the manufacturer’s website.

Bluetooth printers

First, make sure your printer is open to new Bluetooth pairings. Check your owner’s manual for instructions.

To enable Bluetooth on your Windows computer, click the notification icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen and check that Bluetooth is toggled on. You might have to click Expand to see the Bluetooth control.

Wps Push Button Connect

If both your router and HP printer support has Wi-Fi Protected Setup push-button mode, you can connect your HP printer to WiFi with just a push on your router and printer within a couple of minutes. Heres how:

Step 1: On your printer, push the WPS .

Step 2: Next, inside 2 minutes, tap the WPS push button on your router.

A Point to Remember: If you dont find any push button on your printer, then you can start the WPS push button mode by heading to the printers control panel. Ive scoured the internet for instructions on how to connect my old printer to my new router. The router does not have a WPS button. Ive downloaded the HP Smart app and have tried going through that. Ive tried setting up a new printer. Ive tried connecting the printer with the USB but still cant get it to connect to the WiFi. It does print with the USB cord plugged in but I need it to print wirelessly.

Hi Seashells1, there may be a way to connect your printer to your WiFi if you can communicate with and control your printer directly . Does your printer have a touch screen? Do you know the Network name and access password for your WiFi network? You usually need these to connect any new device to your WiFi network, so i assume that you know them. If not, they are often shown on a sticker located on the back or on the bottom of your wireless router. Go to the touch-screen on your printer and dig around until you find the Wireless Setup Wizard. Start the Wizard and it will prompt you for the name of the WiFi network that you want to connect with, and then the password. Enter these and the Wizard will automatically connect your printer to the network and then print out a Network Connection Summary. This summary will contain the local IP address assigned to your printer by your WiFi router. You may need to use this IP address later when adding the printer to your computer. Good luck
