Disconnect And Reconnect The Usb Cable
What If The Printer Did Not Connect To The Network
Check for network issues and review setup requirements if the printer failed to connect.
-
Check the network connection: Move the printer and computer or mobile device closer to the WI-Fi router, and then check if the signal quality improved. Try opening a website to see if the internet connection is working properly. If Wi-Fi is slow or intermittent, restart the router by disconnecting the power cord, wait 15 seconds, and then reconnect it.
-
Printer is off or in sleep mode: Touch the printer touchscreen or press the Power button to wake the printer and put it in a ready state. Sometimes the printer status might display Offline when it is actually ready.
-
Restart the printer: Restarting the printer can clear possible error conditions and restore the Wi-Fi connection.
-
Check the printer Wi-Fi signal: If your printer has a light next to a Wireless icon or button , make sure the light is on. Check the wireless settings to make sure the signal is turned on.
-
Print a Wireless Test Report: Search the HP Customer Support website for your printer model, and then search for self test page to find the document on how to print and evaluate the report.
Troubleshoot The Printer Usb Connection
Check the USB cable for damage and recommended length, and then restart your printer and computer.
Turn off the printer and the computer.
Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and printer, and then inspect the cable.
If the cable is damaged or longer than 3 m , replace it.
If the cable is undamaged and shorter than 3 m , connect the cable to a different USB port on the computer. The port should be USB 2.0 or greater. If you are using a USB hub or docking station, connect the cable directly to the computer.
Connect the cable to the printer.
Turn on the computer, and then wait for the start up process to complete.
Turn on the printer, and then add the printer or wait for the computer to install the new device .

- Disconnect from a USB hub or docking station: If you connected the printer through a USB hub or docking station, try connecting the cable directly to a port on the computer.
- Try a different USB cable: Use a different USB cable. HP supports USB cables less than 3 meters in length.
- Disconnect other USB devices: If you have several USB-connected devices, the computer might not have sufficient power for the USB ports to detect all of them. Disconnect other USB devices that are not in use.If removing other devices resolves the issue, HP recommends installing a powered hub to connect multiple USB devices.

How To Connect A Printer To Your Computer
Connecting your computer to a printer has become easier than ever as we progress into the age of innovative technology, but it seems as though the number, colors, sizes, and complexity of all the wiring can get lost in translation. Even when you think youve got the hang of connecting point A to point B, it takes a lot more than merely plugging in and out to deliver the right results.
In our digital age, printing comes in two forms – wired and wireless. Well walk you through how to connect a printer to your computer, laptop, or handheld device.
What If My Printer Is Not Found Or The Wired Network Connection Fails
Make sure you are using an undamaged Ethernet cable, check for a green light near the Ethernet port on the printer, and then print a report to verify the connection.
Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the Ethernet cable from the router and the printer.
Check the cable for damage, and then verify that it is an Ethernet cable and not a phone cable.
Note:
Ethernet and phone cables look similar, but Ethernet cables are usually bigger and have eight visible wires on the connector.
Reconnect the cable to a different Ethernet or LAN port on the router, and then connect the other end to the printer’s Ethernet port.
Turn on the printer.
Check the lights on the printer’s Ethernet port to make sure the connection is successful. The green light should be steady, and the orange activity light should blink.
Print a Wireless Network Test Results or Network Configuration report.
Inkjet printers with a control panel menu: Open the Wireless, Network Settings, or Setup menu to locate the list of available reports.
Most inkjet printers without a control panel menu: Press the Wireless and Information buttons at the same time, or press the Wireless and Start Copy Black

Advantages Of A Wired Printer
There are few advantages of having a wired printer instead of a wireless printer. Although the wired printer is considered old technology, it is better as compared to wireless printers in many aspects.
- They do not need a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection to be connected with your device.
- There is no special cable for the installation of the printer with your laptop any good USB cable would do the task.
- They are easier to install as compared to a wireless printer.
- If a network distortion occurs, the working of a wireless printer is stopped instantly, whereas, in wired printers, it is not so.
- The data transfer process is much easier and faster in a wired printer. You can print your documents almost instantly with your wired printer instead of going into the long procedure of installation and then Wi-Fi connection and AirPrint.
