The Brother MFC L2700DW is a popular all-in-one machine that has the ability to carry out many useful tasks such as copy, print and scan. Another great feature of this all-in-one machine is that it can be connected wirelessly. So whether the primary location of this machine is at home or in the office, multiple people within a network can have access to the Brother MFC L2700DW printer without the hassle of a wire or cord.
However, with the progression of technology, it can be difficult to keep yourself informed on how to setup certain features that your machine has to offer. Its not as easy as plugging your printer into an outlet, installing the Brother TN-660 toner cartridgeand Brother DR-630 drum cartridge, and having everything ready to go. You will need to follow certain installation steps to properly set up your Brother MFC L2700dw into a fully functioning unit. This includes setup of the WiFi connection.

Before You Set Up Your Brother Machine
You must find out the wireless network settings of your wireless router or access point. Check and write down the current wireless network settings below :

After checking the network information of your wireless router or access point, go to step 2 to set up your machine on a wireless network.
If your wireless router or access point uses WEP encryption with multiple WEP keys, write down and use only the first WEP key.
Make Sure The Brother Machine’s Wireless Network Interface Is Enabled
If you cannot print wirelessly, your Brother machine’s wireless network interface may be disabled. To enable the Brother machine’s wireless network interface:

How To Setup Wireless Connection For Your Brother Mfc L2700dw Printer:
Before we begin, make sure you have available a wireless network to connect to. Record the name of the network and the network key . If you dont know it, you can locate it on the side or bottom of the wireless router or access point.
1. Turn your Brother MFC L2700dw on.
Take the power cord that is connected to the back of your Brother MFC L2700dw printer machine and connect it to a nearby electrical socket. Then turn your Brother machine on by pressing the power button a circular button on the top right hand corner of the machines control panel.
2. Press the ‘Menu’ button.
Open the menu by pressing the menu button on the control panel which is located on the bottom right of the arrow keys.
3. Select ‘Network’ and press ‘OK’.
Use the up or down arrow keys to select the option titled Network then hit the OK key.
4. Select ‘WLAN’ and press ‘OK’.
Use the up or down arrow keys and select the option titled WLAN then hit the OK key. Please note that this step may only apply to certain Brother machines.
5. Select ‘Setup Wizard’ and press ‘OK’.
Use the up or down arrow keys to select the option title Setup Wizard and hit the OK key.
6. Select ‘Yes’ to ‘WLAN Enable?’.
The screen will display WLAN Enable? along with Yes or No options. Proceed with selecting the Yes option which will kick start the wireless setup wizard.
7. Select your Network Name and press ‘OK’.
8. Enter the Network Key and press OK then Yes.
9. Verify connection to wireless network.
Delete All Print Jobs

Right-click your Brother machine’s icon > See what’s printing> Printer> Cancel All Documents.
If Cancel All Documents is greyed out like above, click Open As Administrator. Enter a password for an administrator and click Yes.
When you have completed the checks in this section, try to print. If you still cannot print, check your wireless connection as described in section 2.

Check And Note Your Wi
Take note of your Wi-Fis wireless network settings as you will need this information later on, during the setup process:
- Your Wi-Fi Network Name
- Your Wi-Fi Network Key
You can generally find the Network Name and Network Key written or labeled at the bottom or side of your wireless router or access point.
Make Sure Your Brother Machine Is Turned On
If the machine’s screen is blank
The machine is not turned on or is in Sleep Mode.
- Press any button on the machine to see if it wakes from Sleep Mode.
- If it does not, then check that it is plugged into a working socket and any power switches are turned to ON .
- If the machine is unresponsive even though you tried to turn it on and off, contact your Brother dealer.
If your Brother machine does not print wirelessly when displaying “Deep Sleep” on the screen, try updating the firmware to the latest version.

Click Start> Devices and Printers.
If the check mark is not on your Brother machine, right-click your Brother machine’s icon and select Set as default printer.

Try Network Connection Repair Tool
This tool assists you in restoring printing capability with minimal user interaction. This utility will automatically locate and update your Brother machine’s IP address within your printer driver.
You must log on with Administrator rights. Make sure the Brother machine is turned on and is connected to the same network as your computer.

Try to print. If you still cannot print, set up your Brother machine again, go to 2.5.

If you have carried out the above checks and connection repair, and still cannot print, try reinstalling the driver .
Temporarily change your firewall/security settings to allow network connection
Your computer’s firewall/security software may be preventing the network connection from being established. If you receive firewall-related notifications, we recommend temporarily changing the security settings on your computer to establish the connection.
IMPORTANT
- Before disabling the firewall, make sure the changes you want to make are suitable for your network. Brother will not take any responsibility for any consequences of disabling the firewall.
- When finished, make sure to turn the firewall on again.
If you have set up your Brother machine again and still cannot connect and print, perform additional wireless connection checks, go to 3.
