This is usually the most common method that we recommend to our customers. It’s simple, quick, and often the least intrusive procedure of cleaning your printhead. Most printheads are located directly on the cartridge. Simply uninstall the cartridge from the printer. Make sure you have an area that is lined with a paper towel just in case this gets a little messy. Take a damp paper towel and gently apply it to the print head nozzle and wipe it down. You will visibly see the ink disintegrate and turn into a liquid when exposed to water. The thicker pieces of ink will begin to fall off when wiped. The Colors On The Printed Page Do Not Match The Colors On The Screen

    How to Clean HP Printheads

You glance at a file on your computer, and it looks fantastic. However, when the colors are printed, they are noticeably different. Whats the story? One possible problem is that one of your ink colors has run out, causing colors to be off, therefore check your ink levels first.

A typical issue is that displays have different color settings, thus the colors will never match unless you invest the time and money to correctly calibrate your monitor. There are, however, things you may do to come as near to it as feasible.

    • When creating on your computer, use CMYK colors instead of RGB . Because CMYK is the color setting used by printers, your display and the printed version should be as near as possible.
    • Make use of high-quality paper. The type of paper you select can have a major influence on the appearance of colors. Colors appear more saturated on glossy paper, for example.

    General Cartridge Cleaning Procedure :

To help overcome poor printing performance, it is suggested you first refer to your printer manufacturers website for cleaning instructions specific to your printer model. For general information purposes, two-ink cartridge printer model cleaning instructions are provided below.

    Clogged Ink Cartridge Recovery

To improve print quality for an integrated ink cartridge, you may need to clean the nozzle plate and/or rear electrical contacts. Using an isopropyl alcohol dampened lint-free moist cloth, gently blot the nozzle plate until some ink is drawn out and absorbed into the cloth. Ensure rear electrical contacts are thoroughly clean of all ink residue and lint fibers. Ensure cartridge is dry before re-installing into printer.

NOTE 1: Only use isopropyl alcohol or de-ionized water on cleaning cloth or wipe. If nozzles are allowed to dry or clog, white streaks may be visible in the printed text or graphic. Printing alone may not remove clogs from the nozzles, sometimes a cartridge clean may need to be initiated from printers control menu or printer software.
