Where Is My Printer Settings
Follow these steps to change your printers default settings:
White Margin Around The Sheet
A slightly rarer issue that you may find while printing Avery labels in your printer is that after printing, there is a blank, white margin around the edges of the sheet. Although it is related to your printers capabilities, you can easily work around this issue by tweaking a few settings.
If your printer is unable to print to the edges of the sheet, you can use full bleed to get rid of this problem. Otherwise, you need to use labels that are specifically designed to print to the edges to eliminate this issue.
Change Printer Default Settings
If you’re using Microsoft Windows, it’s easy to change your printer’s configuration through the built-in Settings menu. Click the Start Menu, then click “Settings” and choose Devices, then “Printers & Scanners.” Look for your printer on the list of printers, click its icon and click “Manage.”
Within the management menu, click “Printing Preferences.” Scroll through the menu to see various configuration options and find the option to select whether you wish to print in color or black and white. Select “black and white” and set any other desired settings, such as paper size.
You can also generally access the “Printing Preferences” menu when printing from an individual application. Click “Preferences” from the printing menu and change any settings needed before printing. If you want to change a setting for one print job, you can do so in the “Preferences” menu and then revert it when you’re done printing.

How To Manage Your Print Queue
Each printer on your system has a print queue. When you print a document, that print job is stored in the print queue before its sent to the printer and finishes printing.
In some cases, you may need to pause your print queue to temporarily cease printing, remove individual jobs from the print queue to cancel printing them, or check that everything has printed. You can do all this from the print queue window.
To open this, head to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, click the printer for which you want to view the queue, and then click Open Print Queue. In the Control Panel interface, you can right-click a printer and select See Whats Printing. You might also see a printer icon in the notification area while printing clicking the icon also opens the print queue.
Each pending print job appears in the queue. If no documents are printing, the list will be empty. You can right-click a job to cancel, pause, or restart it. Sometimes print jobs can get stuck, and you may need to delete them and try again.
You can also click the Printer menu and use the various options to manage your entire queue. For example, you can click Printer > Pause Printing to temporarily pause all print jobs until you unpause them, or click Printer > Cancel All Documents to cancel all pending print jobs.

How To Change Printer Device Settings
To configure your printer device, click Printer Properties instead of Printing Preferences from the context menu after right-clicking a printer.
The General tab of the properties window provides information about the printers features and what drivers its using. You can change the printers name or add location details and comments. For example, you might want to enter a location like Main Office or Second Floor Copy Room so people can see exactly where a shared network printer is. The Print Test Page button here lets you quickly print a test page.
On the Advanced pane, youll even see an option that lets you choose when the printer is available. For example, if you only want to use your printer during business hours, you could select 9 am to 5 pm here. People wouldnt be able to print to the printer outside of your selected hours, which is especially useful if youve configured it as a network printer and dont want people printing to it during off hours.

The Better Way To Adjust A Printer’s Settings In Windows
Windows 10 changed the way users often access many system settings when they added a Settings cog as a quick access button in the main Windows menu. Since the main Windows menu provides users with access to programs, restarts and logging out of user profiles, users are consistently reminded of the Settings menu which makes it the common go-to.
Using the default Settings menu
Because the Settings menu is so centrally located, it is the way users typically access many of the system settings in Windows.
For example, to access the settings for an installed printer:
- Open Settings and click on “Devices”.
- In the Devices menu, click “Printers & scanners” in the left sub-menu. This will provide a list of all the installed printers on your device.
From here, if you click on a printer, you are prompted with the following options:
- Selecting manage will provide a window that has the ability to open the printer properties in addition to other settings for that particular printer.
However, there is a better way to access a printer’s settings than using this method through the Settings menu.
The better way
Instead of using the process above:
- In the Control Panel, click on “Devices and Printers”.
- Right-click on the name of any printer and select “Printer properties”.
As always, knowing more than one way to do the same thing is helpful, but oftentimes one way is better than the other!
Size The Model On Your Build Plate
Now that you have the model on your virtual build plate, you know how the final model will look. If you dont like it or want to make changes, you can use the sidebar settings to size the model correctly.
Cura provides these so you can change a variety of features like the models position, size, orientation, etc. Lets have a look at some of them.
Move
You can use this setting to move and change your models position on the build plate. Once you tap the Move icon or press T on the keyboard, a coordinate system will appear to aid you in moving the model.
You can move the model in two ways. One involves using your mouse to drag the model to your desired spot.
In the other method, you can input your desired X, Y, and Z coordinates in the box, and the model will automatically move to that position.
Scale
If you want to increase or decrease the models size, you can use the scale tool for that. An XYZ system will appear on the model when you click on the scale icon or press S on the keyboard.
You can drag each systems axis to increase the models size in that direction. You can also use the more accurate percentage system to scale your model or numbers in mm.
All you have to do is input the factor you want to scale your model by in the box, and it will automatically do it. If youre going to scale all axes by that factor, tick the uniform scaling box. However, If you want to scale a particular axis, untick the box.

Why Do My Printer Settings Keep Changing
The reason the default printer keeps changing is that Windows automatically assumes that the last printer you used is your new favorite. So, when you switch from one printer to another, Windows changes the default printer to the last printer you used. This isnt the only reason your default printer may be changing.
How Do I Find Printer Settings On A Mac
You can change these preferences by selecting Apple menu > System Preferences, then Printers & Scanners. The devices location and status can be viewed by clicking on it.
