You generally use Google Cloud Print in conjunction with a Google account or the Google Chrome Web browser, but you can also use it with other programs in Windows. To use Cloud Print with Windows, you need to add it as a Windows-compatible printer. Google offers a Cloud Print Windows driver to make this possible. Install this driver to your computer, and then set Cloud Print as the default printer to make all print jobs use it automatically.

Visit the Google Cloud Print Driver Web page , click the “Download Google Cloud Printer” button, read the terms of service, and then click “Accept and Install” to download the driver.

Double-click the “virtualprintersetup.exe” driver file once it has finished downloading, and then follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

Open the Windows Start screen, type “devices and printers” in the search box, and then click “Devices and Printers” when it appears in the search list.

Right-click the “Google Cloud Printer” icon in the “Devices and Printers” folder, and then select the “Set as Default Printer” option from the context menu to set Google Cloud Print as the default printer in Windows.

How Google Cloud Print Works

GCP works as a platform to submit and manage print jobs via Internet cloud, and printing jobs can be sent from multiple platforms, be it from a native computer, mobile app or web app. When a printing job is sent, GCP is responsible for sending these instructions to the designated printer, selected by the user.

Setting Up A Printer On Google Cloud

The main requirement to setup a printer on Google Cloud is to have Google Chrome installed on your system. Before proceeding with the steps below make sure that you are signed into your Google Account, and your printer is already connected to the system and ready to print.

The main benefit of the Cloud Printing is that you can send prints from anywhere to your print, such as if you are in your School / University etc, you can logon to your Google Account on Chrome and send the print from your University to your Printer which will be printed out at your home. Theres much more you can do with it as per your requirements.

Below are the steps required to setup a Classic Printer on Google Cloud

1. After you have installed Google Chrome, open it and go to the settings by clicking on the settings icon as shown below.

2. Select Settings option, after Clicking the Settings icon from the drop down.

3. Click Show Advanced Settings, from the settings pane at the bottom.

4. Scroll down further and select the Manage option located under Google Cloud Print.

5. Click Add Printers. This will enable Cloud Printing and you will see a list of printers which are now associated with your Google Account and are ready to go Cloud.

You can add new printers and remove them as well from the Manage section under Google Cloud Print.

Set Up A Classic Network

If your printer is connected to your computer via USB or a local access network, these are the instructions youll need to set up access via Google Print.

1. Launch Google Chrome on the computer attached to the same network as the printer. Make sure you are signed into your Google account within Chrome as on the Chromebook.

3. Settings.

4. Type “cloud print” into the search field.

5. Select Manage Cloud Print devices.

6.. This will allow you to connect your Google Account to the Google Print service.

8. Select Manage Your Printers. This will take you to Google Print.

9. Select Printers from the menu on the left. Here youll see a list of printers connected to the computer you are using.

When you print something from the Chrome browser, these printers will appear as output destinations.

Add A Printer From A Chromebook

If you use a Chromebook or Chromebox, you also might add a printer on your network from your device. To do this, select the time then choose Settings | Advanced | Printing | Printers, then select the printer icon to the right of Add Printer . As with the above option, this allows people to print from Chrome and Chrome devices to local network printers.
