Une perspective supplémentaire, vous pouvez imprimer environ 400 pièces d’échecs de taille moyenne avec une bobine de filament de 1 kg.

What Are The Costs Per Meter Of Filament For Pla Abs And Pet

My Craftbot Plus Craftware slicer estimates cost per job based on filament prices I add as parameters. What costs per meter would you use? I created spreadsheets to calculate this for 1.75mm diameter filament and arrived at PLA = 6.6 cents per meter, ABS = 6.1 and PET XT = 18.6 cents per meter.

Edit: thanks for feedback! I paid \$22 per kilogram for PLA and ABS. I paid \$57 for .75 kilogram of Colorfab XT Black.

  • $\begingroup$You might want to specify 1.75mm or 3mm filament. Although it’s easy enough to calculate both.$\endgroup$Jun 29 ’16 at 18:18
  • 2$\begingroup$A quick note from the economist part of my brain: While the raw material cost is a contributor to product cost, the product price has to be based on consumer demand. Craft fairs, and, are littered with stuff priced by labor cost and unsold because nobody wants it.$\endgroup$ Carl WitthoftJun 30 ’16 at 11:20
  • $\begingroup$I pay 36 euro for a spool of 90m PLA. That is 0.4 euro/meter. And that’s a fact. And it’s a lot higher than the numbers you guys are stating here.$\endgroup$

This strongly depends on the cost of the spool in question. Prices are not consistent among materials at all a spool of ABS can cost anywhere from \$15 to \$60 and the same price range applies to pretty much all other plastic.

For the purpose of this question I am going to assume that a 1 kilogram spool costs \$25 but you can scale the figures to what is appropriate for your brand of filament.

We thus have the following costs :

Combien De Temps Dure Le Filament 3d

Saving Money On Materials Now And In The Future

With all of that being said, on a professional level, it can be difficult to manage the overall usage and cost of materials when completing a job. Managing all things materials can be a time consuming and a stressful occurrence. Having a work order management software solution that can track material usage, inventory, and overall cost calculation can potently free up your current costs and allow for more money to be allocated to your materials.

How Much Does 3d Filament Cost

How much filament do I need for 3D Printing?

Regular PLA and ABS filament for 3Dprinting costs around $25 per kilogram on average.Specialty filaments can cost as much as fourtimes this amount. Not all 3D printing materials are equal. Not even close.

Considering this, how much does 3d printing cost per hour?

Finalizing the Service Fee for 3DPrintingThis gives us the filament cost of 94 centsper hour of 3D printing . So, forthe cost-recovery of filament only, I get roughly $1 perhour of 3D printing time.

Likewise, how much is a gram of filament? One of the primary comparison points for 3D printingmaterials is the cost per gram. Take a look at thecost per gram of three different PLA suppliers. Alarge spool of MakerBot PLA filament costs $48 and thatspool contains 900g of filament. That leads to a costof $0.053/gram.

Likewise, how much does 3d printing cost?

But as with prices for other types of 3D printingmaterials, it highly depends on the quality of the material, thetype of the material and the manufacturer. The average 3Dprinter material cost for standard SLA resins isapproximately $50 per liter. That means entry-level, cheap resinsmay even be under $50.

Is PLA cheaper than abs?

ABS and PLA are the most common desktopFDM printed materials and are typically similar in cost. ABShas superior mechanical properties but is harder to printwith compared to PLA. Due to its lower printingtemperature is easier to print with and therefore bettersuited for parts with fine details.

How Much Does It Cost To 3d Print An Fpv Drone

[2021] How Much Does 3D Printer Filament Cost ...

The Nanolongrange V2 GPS FPV Drone is a modern and very light drone which only uses 7.5g in filament for the frame, which is $0.18. It requires other parts like a flight controller, a motor, 4 blade propellers, a GPS antenna module, an FPV camera, M2 screws and rubber bands, all costing around $110.

The cost of these parts were gathered from going on Banggood on the Thingiverse page, and adding up the relevant costs. This is a very minimal drone, only having a flight time of 20 minutes and 4.65km distance.

For a more capable drone, youre probably looking at a much higher price, but that is due to parts rather than the 3D printing aspect of things.

What Are The Factors Affecting Filament Cost

There are 4 major things we think can affect the cost differences in 3D printer filament types:

  • Cost of raw materials: carbon fiber, TPU, and other specialty filament raw materials cost more than standard PLA, ABS, etc
  • Filament Tolerance: smaller tolerances add bigger costs on production, adding more on unit costs for each filament spool
  • Quantity: Bulk filament spools such as 4kg filaments costs cheaper than 1kg filament spools.
  • Brand/Manufacturer: Some 3D printers are designed to take only their brands filaments which means you cant really use other manufacturers filaments. If this is the case, youre only restricted to buy limited choices of filaments.

How To Calculate 3d Printing Costs

This article is also available in following languages:

We often see online discussions about the price of 3D prints, or more specifically: how to calculate the price for having something 3D printed. Since there are many myths floating around, we figured out that many people will be interested in a deep dive into various aspects of this field. So, how do you set the right price for a 3D print? Well take you through the main aspects of 3D printing pricing that affect the price, however, if youre not really keen on learning every single detail, feel free to scroll down to the end we have a small surprise for you there.

Lets imagine a purely hypothetical example of a certain Josef from Prague , who bought three 3D printers to make some profit: he has the Original Prusa i3 MK3S, Original Prusa MINI, and the Original Prusa SL1.

A customer ordered this test object from Josef and wishes to know the price of the object printed on the printers mentioned above. It should be printed with PrusamentPLA Orange and with Prusa Orange Tough resin .

How Much Does 3d Printing Cost Per Print

This depends on the size of your print, and the percentage infill.

The standard infill percentage is around 20%, though for testing the functionality of stronger parts you can go up to 80% or even higher. This will however use significantly more filament and cost exponentially more.

Based on a filament cost of $20/kilo, and assuming an average print which takes 4-5 hours to print uses up 100g filament, you can make a rough estimate that youre paying around $2 per print.

Of course, this varies wildly a tiny 3D printed ring mold may cost you $0.10, and a huge vase that takes a day to print could cost $10. One $20 filament spool is enough to print a few hundred standard sized chess pieces, with FDM known for being the cheapest and most accessible 3D printing technology by quite some distance.

You also need to account for failed prints. Depending on how reliable your 3D printer is, prints could fail up to 10% of the time. Therefore, a conservative estimate would be to add 10% to your printing costs, though this depends on the size of the print and your print settings.

Resins are more expensive than filament, so account for that. For 3D printing castable jewelry molds, you could conservatively estimate $1 of resin each, and these models are small and thin. SLS 3D printer powders are more expensive, and youll need to pack the build area efficiently to make best use of the powder.

Buy Open Source 3d Printers

Before you buy your first 3D printer, take into consideration the brand of the machine and the range of filament costs compatible with it. Check if the 3D printer manufacturer allows its printers to use 3rd party/open source filaments.

If it doesnt, this means youre restricted from using filaments other than the manufacturers brand. This also means you wont get to buy generic and relatively cheaper filaments.

If youre willing to save more on 3D printer filament, you can take a look at mid-range open-source 3D printers which wont cost much to operate.

How Much Can Be 3d Printed With 1 Spool Of Filament

Since 3D printing is an additive manufacturing process there is very limited material waste involved. With a 1 KG spool of filament, you would probably 3D print ~990 grams or so of the material.

Factors that affect this of course, is the quality of the filament. If the filament keeps breaking or keeps getting jammed, this would reduce the effective amount of filament you could 3D print with.

The other factor is the age and degradation of the 3D printer itself which would lead to increased jams, more failed prints, and more process loss at the hot end.

Estimate The Volume And Do The Math

If you create solid projects, you may estimate the pieceâs volume and use that estimation to calculate the volume of filament. More math can give you the length of the filament, based on its diameter, used to make the model.

This method doesnât work well with 3D projects with many openings or voids or irregular in shape and size. Estimating the volume of the solid parts of such a model is almost impossible for most people.

How Much Does It Cost To 3d Print A Figure

The saying goes not one size fits all. That saying applies to this question perfectly. Some of you may have really advanced 3D printers while others only have some basic models. The reason this is important is that the cost of the materials will be dependent on the type of materials you are using.

Say you are using high-quality materials for your printer, its going to cost you more for those high-quality materials than it would with a basic model. More advanced printers use more advanced materials. Basic printers use basic materials. To make this question easier to answer, Ill be giving you the average cost. Keep in mind, that this cost may not apply to you.

  • Thermoplastic- $3.50 $7.50 per cubic inch
  • Polymers- $0.10 per gram
  • Metals- $0.60 per gram

It should be noted that while polymer and metals are similar due to the fact that they are both in a powdered form as well as melted together, metals are a more expensive material so it will cost more per gram.

Thermoplastic is by far the most expensive. The main reason for the high cost is due to the fact that thermoplastics have much more thermal resistance compared to other polymers. Hence the name thermoplastic.

This should give you a general idea of how much it costs to print a certain figure and which materials will cost the least amount.

How To Buy The Right 3D Printing Filament: Ultimate Guide ...

In order to 3D print an object, well need to look at the biggest initial cost which is the 3D printer. Luckily for normal consumers, 3D printers have drastically decreased in price as time has gone on.

The materials that are required for creating 3D printers are increasing in supply, as well as the number of manufacturers that are competing in the space. For a standard FDM filament 3D printer like the Ender 3 , you can get this for around $200.

The other type of 3D printer which is growing in popularity is the SLA resin 3D printer. A budget SLA resin 3D printer like the Elegoo Mars 2 Mono is currently around $230, which is a lot cheaper than what they used to be.

Previously, you would have been looking at least $1,000 for a basic version of these 3D printers, so its something a lot more manageable for us average users.

These are great for entry-level hobbyists, though if you want more practical features, youll want to spend more.

The Artillery Sidewinder X1 V4 is around $450 and is a great option for a filament 3D printer.

It comes 95% pre-assembled, so a beginner can put it together very easily, and comes with a much larger build volume than the Ender 3 at 300 x 300 x 400mm.

It has a touch screen operation display, as well as a direct drive extruder which makes printing some materials a lot easier.

The design is a lot cleaner, compact, and professional looking, and since its a long-term machine, makes sense to invest a good amount into it.
