How To Make Any Wired Printer Wireless In 6 Different Ways
Make it easy to share and connect on your network
In the old days, most people who owned a computer had only one in the entire house. If they also had a printer, it was attached to that computer. If you wanted to print something, youd have to bring those files to that local PC.
Now, each household is filled with networked devices that all have the ability to print. That means it becomes impractical and inconvenient for everyone to access the printer when needed.
Most new printers these days offer a WiFi connection, but what if you have a wired printer without WiFi? You dont have to go out and buy a whole new printer. Because theres a way to make virtually any wired printer wireless.
Connect The Printer With The Wireless Setup Wizard
Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.
Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, and then select Wireless Setup Wizard.
Select the name of your network, and then enter the password to complete the connection.
If the Wireless Setup Wizard is not listed, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS, select Push Button, and then follow the steps to connect to the network.
Use The Wps Pairing Button
If your printer and router are both compatible with Wireless Protected Setup this should be an option in the printers network menu.
If so, when prompted, all you need to do is press the WPS pairing button on your router and the corresponding button on the printer to wirelessly connect the printer to the network.

Plug Into A Wireless Print Server
If your printer has a USB port, you can plug in a wireless print server, a small box into which you can connect your printer. The advantage of investing in a print server is that you don’t have to connect the printer to a PC, which means you can use your laptop and print anywhere in your home.
We found plenty of print servers in the $50 range onNewegg.com, although many of the models cost closer to $75 or $100). Before you buy, make sure the print server is compatible with your printer .
During the setup, you will have to plug the printer into the printer server, and connect that to the router using an Ethernet cable. Meanwhile, you’ll have to install software on your computer and configure the connection, as you would when setting up a router.

Types Of Xerox Wireless Printers/wireless All
With multiple ways to print wirelessly, choosing a wireless printer can be daunting. So how can you find the best wireless printer for your needs? At Xerox we offer:
Printers with built-in WiFi print features
Add on wireless printing options or adapters
If you want WiFi printing built-in, then one of our newer wireless printers or wireless all-in-one printers is best for you. Look at Xerox® ConnectKey® technology-enabled AltaLink® and VersaLink® printers and multifunction printers first, which make mobile and cloud printing a priority.
Physical Printer And Cable Checks
Check both ends of the USB cable are firmly inserted. If the printer is networked then make sure the Ethernet cable is firmly inserted. If the printer is wireless check your internet connection or make sure its connected to your router.
If youre connected by cable try using the end of the printer cable in multiple ports or sockets on your device.
Try using a different cable to make sure the fault is not with the cable alone. If youre on a network or wireless device a simple check would be to attach a cable to your computer/or device to make sure your printer is working. Therefore the fault could be with your network connection.

As compact and sleek as some printers are, they can still take up a good chunk of your work area. That’s a problem when your desk space is cluttered, or just limited. One way to clean up and maximize your workspace is to make your printer wireless, so that you can place it wherever there’s room in your home or office.
Don’t own a wireless printer? No problem. Here are three ways to turn any printer into a wireless one.
Hp Laserjet 1102w Wireless Monochrome Laser Printer
Whenever you see a w on the end of an HP LaserJet series printer, you know its got wireless built-in. Although HP wasnt the first manufacturer to include wireless as an option for its printers, the setup seems to go a lot smoother with HP branded machines. You will pay a bit more for wireless functionality up front, but the savings in repair and toner costs will save you money down the road. So far, this has been the best wireless printer for a Mac.

Hi, I am having a problem with connecting a Printer hooked up to a 10.4 mac to a Windows XP using wireless. I spoke with apple care, and they said I should download bonjour for windows, because that is what the mac printer sharing emits. So, I did, and it finds the printer, and everything works fine, but then it says Copying Files, and then it stops halfway through, and says You do not have sufficient access to this computer. Please contact your network administrator. I am an admin on the mac and PC, and on the PC, mine is the only account. I have a Canon MX330 series printer. Please help! Thanks,

Share Your Printer Via Your Computer
If you need a wireless printer occasionally and don’t want to spend physical effort setting it up, you can share your printer using the computer it’s connected to right now. As long as your PC and the device that wants to print are on the same network, you can use your computer as the bridge to let the wireless device print.
The main downside with this method is that the host computer needs to be turned on and connected. Furthermore, if you’re not familiar with the steps of setting this up, or if you’re connecting different systems, like a Windows PC and an iPhone, you might run into some complications.
Nevertheless, this is still the best solution for those who only print rarely. And with Windows 10 and 11, setting up this system is easier than ever before.

How To Use A Router To Make A Printer A Wireless Printer
Networking a printer allows you to print to the device wirelessly from any connected network computer. This may save your business both money and office real estate by reducing the number of printers needed. You can connect almost any printer to your network, although the networking method you select may vary depending on your printer hardware.
The Advantages To Wireless Printing
Wireless printing is convenient, whether you’re at home, work, or school. Here are a few of the benefits of wireless printing.
- Printers for every budget: The major printer manufacturers include Wi-Fi in their printer models, often at all price points. You can buy a wireless printer for less than $50.
- Print from anywhere: With cloud printing solutions like HP ePrint, you can print wirelessly to a printer in another physical location. It makes it easier for people to print because it eliminates the need to install the printer and its drivers beforehand. You can also print from any device connected to the same network.
- Eliminate extra cords and cables: A wireless printer only has a power cord attached to it, eliminating the extra wires. You can set it up in a suitable location, and it frees up a USB port on your computer that you can use for something else.
- Save on energy and paper costs: Instead of having multiple printers set up wherever anyone needs to print, you can centralize printing to a single wireless printer. You could save on paper, toner, and ink costs because everyone might think twice before printing.
Most new printers connect to any wireless network. So you can print from your laptop, tablet, or smartphone. For most people, wireless printing refers to Bluetooth-enabled printing or Wi-Fi printing. Both allow you to print without connecting any cables between your device and the printer.

Change The Default Printer
Windows will attempt to set the default printer by selecting the one used most recently on the connected network. This is toggled on by default and will mean that the OS can remember which printer to use when switching between networks. Not everyone needs or wants this functionality, and luckily it’s really easy to turn it off.
Independent Wireless Print Server
This is probably the most popular way of connecting a USB only printer to a wireless network. Many manufactures have come out with wireless connectivity devices. These small devices are called a wireless print server or a wireless bridge for printers. The following devices can be used as a wireless print server.
Pros: Generally inexpensive compared to a wireless router or buying a printer with built-in wireless capabilities. Utilizes equipment that you already have. Most of the wireless print servers available today are cross platform .
Cons: Can be hard to configure due to the wireless nature of the print server. May not be compatible with all printers that use USB. Some adapters dont have the best wireless range which can cause problems getting everything setup.
