How To Fix The Dreaded Google Cloud Printer Offline Issue
If your Google Cloud ready printer has gone offline, no amount of hairpulling will bring it back. Here’s a fix that should solve your problem.
One of the most frequently received Chrome OS-related questions has to do with the cloud printing system. Although Google Cloud Printing is easy to use and rather handy, it isn’t perfect.
On one hand, you have to purchase a Google Cloud Ready Printer . On the other hand, if your printer isn’t Google Cloud Ready, it must be attached to an always-on desktop machine that is associated with your Google account.
But let’s say you’ve got that printer set up and running smoothly. You’re printing from your desktop, your Chromebook, and even your Android devices…all without a hitch. And then one day, Murphy strikes and you can no longer print from those Chrome OS or Android devices. What gives? The printer is working just fine from the desktop, yet on the Chrome and Android devices…not so much.
I Cant Use My Word Docs On My Chromebook
If you recently switched to a Chromebook and you are having trouble accessing your old documents, there are several workarounds. Googles first suggestion is, naturally, to use Google Docs. This can solve your problem, and Google Docs can view many Word files, but it isnt always practical due to tools, formatting, compatibility, and so on.
The best option if your Chromebook allows it is to download the Microsoft Word Android app from Google Play. This app functions just as it does on Android, so you should feel right at home.
Another option is moving to Word Online. This is a specific, well-reviewed Chrome extension specializing in making it possible to use Office features on your Chromebook and with various applications. If you have online Office capabilities, this web-based solution is ideal.

Experimental: Enable Native Cups Printing
As of March 2017, local printing is still an experiment and is hidden until you enable it. Go to the chrome://flags URL in your Chromebook’s browser, look for “Enable Native CUPS,” and click the “Enable” link below the setting. This adds support for long-time standard Unix-style print standards–the CUPS system that uses IPP –to your Chromebook.
Once Native CUPS is enabled, you’ll see a new “Printers” option in your Chrome settings above the standard “Google Cloud Print” option.
To enable experimental local printing from a Chromebook to a local printer, go to chrome://flags and enable Native CUPS, then configure a printer in the Chrome settings.
Select “Manage,” and a nicely-designed Material Design version of printer settings appears, with the option to “Add Printer.” You’ll need to know the IP address, configured protocol, and queue settings for your printer. After you enter this information, if your device isn’t found, you can also select your printer from a long list of manufacturers and models, or browse to choose your own driver.
Now, when you print, your file goes from your device to the printer over your local network.
You’ll need to know the IP address of your local printer and make sure that it is configured to print with the necessary protocols, such as IPP.

Instead Of Loading Web Pages I Get Weird Error Messages
If Chrome cannot properly load a web page, it presents an odd, Aw snap! error. If you continuously encounter this error, something is wrong with your OS or settings. One of the easiest and most effective solutions is to close unnecessary browser tabs and windows.
If closing a few tabs finally allow you to open a new one, then system memory is your issue. Chromebooks typically have low memory capacities due to their web-based roots. Moreover, Chrome tabs can consume that finite space. Put the two together, and youre forced to regulate tab use.
Failing extensions can also be a problem. To solve that, follow these steps to disable or remove them:
Step 1: Open the Chrome browser.
Step 2: Click the three-dot Customize and Control icon located in the top-right corner.
Step 3: Select the More Tools option on the drop-down list.
Step 4: Select Extensions on the roll-out menu.
Step 5: Click the Remove button on each extension card that you want to delete. If you merely want to temporarily disable the extension, click the Toggle instead. Blue is on and gray is off.
If all else fails, check your internet connection, clear your browser cache, or try opening a web page in an incognito window.
