How To Connect an HP Wireless Printer with Windows 10: HP How To For You | @HPSupport

11-14-201404:21 PM

Just bought the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all-in-one for the local Historical Society. Neither the laptop nor the printer will be connected to the Internet. The printer will only be used for printing reports, scanning images, etc.

I have just removed the instruction manual to familiarize myself with the connecting procedure but I notice there are several references that require internet access.

Is there a work-around that allows me to install/connect the printer without requiring access to the internet?

Given a special environment USB probably is the way to go. You don’t need special USB cable. Your printer has two USB port, one at the front and one at the back. You have to use the USB port at the back

And the USB cable is the one similar to the following one:

The “flat” end for your computer/laptop and the “round” is for the printer. Please check the box first, depending on where you are , the cable may be inside the box already.

How many computer will be using the printer ? If only one the USB is the way to go. You can also use wireless direct to print but this is not reliable:

To answer your question, there is only one laptop to which the printer will be connected.

What If My Printer Is Not Found Or The Connection Failed During Usb Setup

Check the USB cable for damage and length, replace it if necessary, and restart your printer and computer.

  • Turn off the printer and your computer.

  • Disconnect the USB cable from your computer and printer, and then inspect the cable.

  • If the cable is damaged or longer than 3 m , replace it.

  • If the cable is undamaged and shorter than 3 m , connect the cable to a different USB port on the computer. The port should be USB 2.0 or greater. If you are using a USB hub or docking station, connect the cable directly to the computer.

  • Connect the cable to your printer, and then make sure the cable is fully secured to both ports.

  • Turn on the computer, and then wait for the computer to complete startup.

  • Turn on the printer, and then add your printer or wait for the computer to install the new device .

My Bluetooth Printer Is Not Connectingto My Computer

Yes, you may be experiencing some issueshere. Below we have outlined the most common issues which may be preventing asolid connection, as well as how you can fix the issues.

    • A common issue with Bluetooth is that the signal may be being interfered with from outside sources. If your Bluetooth connection is not strong, it may be due to nearby Bluetooth devices, your WIFI router, radios, baby monitors, and kitchen microwaves too. If the connection is not good, remove any and all such items from the area.
    • Sometimes Bluetooth can be a bit iffy and simply refuse to connect. A good solution, if you are failing to make a connection, is to reset everything. By reset, we mean to turn everything off and on again. First off, turn the printer off and leave it off for a couple of seconds, then turn it back on, and if necessary, hit the pairing button. At the same time, turn your computer off and on again, and then refresh the list of available devices to connect. This should help solve the situation.
    • Printers require drivers to function properly. If your printer is not working, you may need to install the right driver on your computer. Printers sometimes come with the driver software on a disc or you may have to download it.
